Mountain biodiversity science
Facilitating processes of mountain biodiversity knowledge creation
The production of context-specific knowledge requires iterative and collaborative processes involving diverse types of expertise, knowledge, and actors. By bringing together a large community of members from science, policy, and society, global research networks are well positioned to identify pressing sustainability challenges and facilitate the co-creation of knowledge and data products. GMBA aims to support the collaborative knowledge creation process of the GMBA community in a set of scientific areas identified based on current literature and regular consultation processes within the GMBA network and the SSC. These areas range from fundamental mountain biodiversity science to data collection, monitoring, conservation, and management.
GMBA supports and facilitates mountain biodiversity science via:
- working groups
- research projects
- its flagship initiative: the global assessment of mountain biodiversity
